This DIY Dog Toy Keeps Your Pet Busy For Hours

Engaging toys are great if you have a dog with endless energy that you want to tire out, both mentally and physically. This DIY toy uses simple supplies and will keep your pet occupied for hours without much effort on your part.

Besides being engaging, this toy is also easy to scale up or down depending on the size of your dog. You need three plastic bottles, a metal pole, a wood pole, a couple of pieces of scrap wood, four screws, wood glue and a drill. Create a stand for the bottles by gluing together three pieces of wood, one for the bottom and two for the sides. Attach the wood pole near the top of the stand for added stability and ease when moving the toy. Drill a hole on either side of the bottles, where it starts to bulge outwards, then slide the bottles onto the metal pole and attach it to the middle of the stand. You can screw rectangles of wood on the outside of the frame to keep the metal pole from poking out the sides.

Once the glue is dry, add a handful of dry dog food to each bottle. Your dog will be busy figuring out how to get the kibble out, piece by piece. While this is a hands off toy, you should keep an eye on your dog so they don’t chew on the plastic bottles or destroy the toy, or risk hurting themselves. Check out the video above to see how it works.
