Make A Decadent, Protein-Packed Chocolate Pudding With An Avocado

When I think of chocolate pudding, I usually think of powdered mix, goop in portable, little containers, or tons of whisking and stirring. But not this one. No, this one is a luxuriously creamy pudding that’s packed with protein and healthy fats.

A ripened avocado forms the base of the pudding. You need it soft to create that decadent mouthfeel. Along with the avocado, you need about two tablespoons of cacao powder, one scoop of chocolate whey protein powder, and a ripe banana, or a couple of pitted dates, as sweetener.

Mix them all by hand, or if you use dates, with a blender. If the consistency is too sludgey for you, add a few tablespoons of milk. Chill the mixture for about 20 minutes and enjoy.

Its rich chocolatey flavour should curb any cravings, but this recipe is high in calories. The banana or dates are optional if you want to cut calories somewhere, but you might want another sweetener (unless you like the extreme bitterness of cacao). While this makes two servings, it’s admittedly very difficult to not inhale the whole thing. So if it doesn’t quite fit into your plan you can swap out the avocado with low fat cottage cheese.
