How To Delete And Reinstall Stock Apps In iOS 10

Since basically the dawn of the iPhone, users have been asking to remove Apple’s stock apps from their iOS devices. With iOS 10, you can finally do it.

Apps aren’t actually deleted in the way you’d think, they’re basically hidden. So, if you’re trying to get a little extra space, this won’t help (Apple claims all the apps only take up around 150MB anyway). Still, if you’re sick of hiding that Tips app deep inside a folder, now you’ll never have to see it again.

You go through the same process to delete a built-in app as you do to delete any other app. Tap and hold on an app icon until it starts jiggling, then tap the X to remove it. You can remove the following apps:

  • Calculator
  • Calendar
  • Compass
  • Contacts
  • FaceTime
  • Find My Friends
  • Home
  • iBooks
  • iCloud Drive
  • iTunes Store
  • Mail
  • Maps
  • Music
  • News
  • Notes
  • Podcasts
  • Reminders
  • Stocks
  • Tips
  • Videos
  • Voice Memos
  • Watch app
  • Weather

To restore an app, just head to the App Store, search for the app you removed and tap the cloud icon. It will instantly reappear on your home screen.
