Commonwealth Bank has said it is experiencing problems with its NetBank and CommBank applications, with customers unable to complete transactions. The issue may also be affecting POS terminals with some customers reporting they cannot withdraw cash. Here are the details.
Here’s the statement from Commbank’s Facebook page:
We are aware some customers are currently experiencing intermittent issues accessing NetBank and the CommBank app. The cause of the problem is under urgent investigation and we are working to have full services restored as a matter of priority. Our ATMs and EFTPOS services are available and not affected by this issue. We apologise for the inconvenience to customers and thank you for your patience.
The status update currently has over 250 comments, mostly from affected customers. Some claim to be stranded at merchant terminals unable to pay for goods and services, although it is not clear whether this is due to POS terminals not working or customers attempting to transfer money between accounts during checkout.
The outage tracker Aussie Outages has also received thousands of reports in the past three hours:

For one of the most profitable banks in the world, you would expect better service. Smh.
And it’s also a case of its not the first time either. September? Last year they died as well.
Netbank goes down, tap to pay client goes down. You know what would still be working though? Apple pay and Android pay. But commbank think their customers want the choice of their awful tap to pay clients to within Netbank app.
Good, they deserve it with their terrible customer service.
