Google Maps Adds Multiple Destination Directions, Timeline Notes To Android

Android: Google Maps is finally adding a desperately needed feature. Starting today, you can add multiple destinations to a navigation trip when you get directions on Android.

While you’ve been able to look up things like petrol stations and grocery stores on your route already, inexplicably you couldn’t navigate to one of those stops, followed by directions home. You’d have to complete one trip, then start the next. Now, that’s no longer necessary. Simply enter every stop along the way, and Google will show you your entire route.

Additionally, Google is adding a new feature to the Timeline tool. If you have location history turned on, Google will place all of your visits on a scrollable timeline. Now, you can add notes to that timeline. So, if you want to remember that your spouse loved a restaurant you visited, or jot down a memory from a holiday spot, the Timeline will let you do that. This could actually transform the Timeline into a useful journal, rather than just a simple list of all the places Google knows you’ve been. Both new features will be rolling out to Android users over the next few days.
