Android N’s Official Name Will Be Android Nougat

Google announced this morning that the next version of Android, codenamed Android N, will officially be Android Nougat, and not Nutella, as most people suspected.

For the record, our own Beth Skwarecki called this back in March during Google I/O, when Google opened its campaign to get everyone to name the next version of Android.

After deliberating for months (and probably haggling with Ferro Rocher for how much they’d have to pay in royalties if it were called Android Nutella), the final announcement went out over Google’s Snapchat account this morning. You can see some screenshots above, or follow them on Snapchat (as Google, of course) to see more, or some videos from the unveiling.
