Make A Great-Smelling, Reusable Fruit Fly Trap

There are few ways to make a decent DIY fruit fly trap, but this one also adds a fresh lemon scent to your kitchen. All you need is a small plastic container and a lemon.

In this video from the “King of Random” YouTube channel, Grant Thompson will show you how to make an effective fruit fly trap out of some household basics. Take a small, reusable plastic container and cut or burn a tiny hole in the lid. Cut a lemon in half, squeeze out some of the juice into the container, stick the lemon half inside the container, and close the lid.

Fruit flies will flock to your citrusy trick and get trapped inside. When you’ve caught a bunch of flies, pour a little water into the lid’s hole, and microwave the whole thing for 15 to 30 seconds. This will kill all the flies and give your home a pleasant citrus scent. Simply rinse the container out and add a fresh lemon half to reuse the trap as many times as you want.
