Build A Smartphone-Controlled Garage Door Opener

Build A Smartphone-Controlled Garage Door Opener

If you have an older garage door, you probably have a bunch of obnoxious large remotes sitting around. If you’re prefer something a bit more sleek (and secure), Make shows you how to build a garage door opener you can control with your smartphone.

With a smartphone garage door remote, you’ll easily be able to give access to multiple vehicles and keep it secure while also not spending too much money. Make’s project uses a single development board called a Particle Core that hooks directly into the opener. It’s simple and surprisingly easy to build. We’ve talked about a similar project before, but Make’s is a little simpler and easy to work with.
