There is currently a dearth of IT security and data analytics talents right now. As such, companies that are looking to hire individuals for related roles are playing big bucks to attract the right people. Adzuna has aggregated the salaries offered in IT job vacancy postings in March to find out the top 10 highest paying roles. Without further ado, here’s the list:

Position Average Salary
#1 Security architect $166,244.22
#2 Data warehouse developer $157,098.75
#3 Technical architect $147,623.87
#4 Solutions architect $146,158.05
#5 Technical writer $134,327.21
#6 Java developer $131,153.96
#7 Information security $129,923.07
#8 Data modeller $127,947.23
#9 Change manager $126,460.37
#10 System analyst $123,360.20

According to Adzuna CEO for Australia Raife Watson:

“It is unsurprising that security specialists feature heavily on the list. 2015 was the year of large-scale hacks of Ashley Madison, The Hacking Team, and even the US Internal Revenue Service (IRS). In Australia, we saw the large hack of the Bureau of Meteorology which was reported will take years and millions of dollars to fix.

“As more companies deal in data it becomes vitally important that that data isn’t breached. Combatting and preventing hacks requires a high degree of specialist knowledge and organisations are, rightfully, willing to pay a lot for those skills.”
