Kogan’s 4G Network Is Now Live

Today, Kogan switched on its 4G network, which will be provided to all pre-paid customers at no extra charge. Assuming your phone is compatible, this should see improvements to speed and reliability across talk and data services. Hurrah! There’s also a new “11XL” plan with a whopping 11GB data for under $50 a month.

Kogan 4G runs on the Vodafone network, whose 4G coverage footprint covers approximately 95 per cent of the Australian population. In other words, it should work fine even if you live in a rural area.

As we mentioned previously, it’s worth noting that faster mobile speeds can potentially result in maxed out data if you’re not careful. (i.e. — Faster speeds means you churn through data quicker.)

This is where Kogan’s prepaid 11XL plan presumably comes in — for $49.95 a month it grants you a massive 11GB of monthly data and unlimited standard calls and texts within Australia. There’s also the option to pay $499.95 for the whole year up front, which works out to a saving of $100 compared to paying month-to-month for one year.

For a limited time, you can snag an extra gigabyte of data on the 11XL plan. You can also get an additional 2GB of data on the 5XL plan if you recharge before 31 July 2016. Here are the plans on offer:
