TripAdvisor analysed pricing data from April 2014 to February 2016, looking specifically at travel during June, July and August. Their results vary quite a bit by region, and it varies even more by city, of course.
If you’re planning a trip to Asia, for example, you want to book about three months in advance to save about 23 per cent off peak pricing. And here are the results for a few specific cities around the world.
- Bangkok: Within three months for 16 per cent savings
- Tokyo: Two to five months out for 31 per cent savings
- Paris: Within four months for 32 per cent savings
- New York City: Two to four months out for 25 per cent savings
