The Best Aeropress Method From The 2015 World Aeropress Championships

It’s no secret that we adore the Aeropress coffee maker here at Lifehacker, and one of the reasons is because of just how many variables you can tweak to make a good cup of coffee. If you’re looking for some new methods, the winner of the World Aeropress Championship (yes, that’s a thing) shares his.

The top three baristas shared their methods, but here’s what the first place winner, Lukas Zahradnik, did:

  • Inverted brew method
  • 20 grams of coffee ground at the 7.3 settings on a Mahlkonig EK34 grinder (OK, this part you won’t be able to recreate yourself)
  • Heat water to 79C
  • Add 60g of water
  • Turbulent wiggle for 15 seconds
  • 30 second bloom
  • Add the rest of the water
  • Press for 45 seconds

Of course, there are plenty of other methods, and over on the World Aeropress Championship site they share the top three from the last several years. If you’ve gotten bored of your Aeropress methods, this is a pretty set of methods to mix things up.
