Microsoft Adds Reports To Office 365 To Track Productivity Apps Usage

It’s good to know how your employees are using various work apps in your company so you know where to allocate additional IT resources. That’s why Microsoft has now introduced usage reports for SharePoint, OneDrive for Business, Skype for Business and Yammer offered through Office 365. Here’s what you need to know.

If you’ve invested in Office 365, Microsoft’s subscription-based productivity suite, you’d want to know whether your staff are making the most of all the features it has to offer. To gain greater visibility over just how workers are engaging with different apps in the suite, Office 365 IT administrators now have access to an activity dashboard and usage reports.

Here’s a breakdown of what’s new:

  • Activity dashboard: Provides high-level overview of how many people in your organisation are using Office 365 and you can drill down to different apps from there.
  • Email activity report: Allows admins to understand email usage including send, receive and read activity. You can also monitor trends in email traffic.
  • Office activation report: Can help identify users that have been assigned a licence but haven’t activated it yet so you know to ask if they need help in that regard.
  • Usage reports for SharePoint sites, OneDrive for Business, Skype or Business and Yammer.

According to Microsoft:

” All reports provide you with both aggregate and user-level information, so you can effectively plan training and communication that helps your users to take full advantage of the potential of Office 365.”
