Between your TV, cable box, game console and all the other gadgets you have laying around, your house probably looks a bit like Christmas at night. Turn down the distractions with a bit of electrical tape.

As tech tips site How-To Geek points out, cutting out a bit of tape to block an annoyingly bright LED on a gadget is trivially easy, and it makes your house a little easier on the eyes at night. If you still want to be able to see the LEDs (they are there for a reason), You can also buy pre-cut, semi-transparent patches stickers called LightDims that still allow a small amount of light through.

Been doing this for years, I find that if you simply stick a hot pin through the middle of the tape before you use it, you’ll get a very tiny light so you can still see it without the full on glare. I really like the Lightdims idea, but I can’t find an Aussie vendor at all. Anyone know where to get them here?
I just use Blu tack.
I’m with greenlego. Points for: 1.Blu-Tack usually easier to find laying around the house. 2 easier to set the transparency level. 3.can change the transparency level at any given time. 4.cleans up easier. Against: maybe not as neat as carefully cut tape.
BT is an option but it stands out like a sore thumb. Some black electrical tape works fine and, at least in my experience, you rarely even need to see the LEDs. I have a HDMI switch which has LEDs you could use to light up a runway so I taped over all of them and I was still able to easily navigate the inputs when I had to.
