CommBank Launches A New POS App For Small Business Owners

Commonwealth Bank has recently partnered with tech startup Kounta to launch a new comprehensive POS app for its Albert EFTPOS tablet device, providing support for a number of common frontline check out functions. The new app combines the POS needs of many small businesses, providing a one-stop solution for complex business needs. Here’s what you need to know about CBA’s take on Kounta.

Kounta’s regular app is a fully online cash register and inventory management system that can be installed on an iPad or an iPhone to run a store from a single device. The app simultaneously keeps stock of inventory and accounts, keeping a reliable record of all purchases. The new partnership with CommBank — one of the few Aussie banks to develop its own POS hardware — allows Kounta to extend its capabilities on a device like Albert, which among other features is able to take payment in any form and print receipts.

Kounta’s app is targeted at businesses in the hospitality and retail sectors, allowing business owners to “manage core business operations across multiple sites and devices”. It combines a number of different functions in one app, enabling checkout and payment, table management and tipping for hospitality service and even a function for splitting bills. Not only does its software feature these core functions, it can also keep track of staff and — using features that can be accessed through the Kounta Add-Ons Marketplace — can even extend to managing store loyalty programs, accounting and other business operations
