Pocket, one of our favourite “read later” apps, has long been free to use without any ads. Starting soon, however, sponsored content will be showing up among your posts unless you’re a premium user.
The recent announcement from the Pocket Blog explains that the sponsored content will be “high-quality” and ideally interesting to read. Also, you’ll always know whether you’re seeing a sponsored post or not. All sponsored content will be clearly marked to differentiate them from the other items within your Pocket app. You’ll also be able to hide any particular sponsored posts that you don’t like and provide feedback so you’re hopefully not bombarded with stuff you hate. Of course, if you sign up for Pocket Premium ($US5 ($7) a month, or about $US3.75 ($5) a month if you sign up for a year), you’ll be able to remove sponsored content altogether. You can learn more at the link below.
