In its latest bid to outdo rival telco Telstra, Optus is offering a huge data boost to prepaid customers on $30+ plans. For a limited time, the $40 My Prepaid Ultimate plan includes a whopping 8GB of data; plus the ability to roll over unused data month-to-month. The deal also provides unlimited international calls to 10 different countries with no lock-in contract.
This is easily the best prepaid phone deal we’ve seen in recent months. The catch is that the 8GB is only being offered until the end of April as part of Optus’ double data promotion. After that, it reverts to 4GB, which is still quite reasonable for a $40 prepaid plan. (You can also cancel as soon as the promotion ends.)
As mentioned, the plan includes unlimited international calls to 10 different countries: China, India, USA, UK, New Zealand, Singapore, Thailand, Hong Kong, South Korea and Malaysia.
There’s also a $30 My Prepaid Ultimate plan available, which currently comes with 3GB of data. Like the $40 plan, the data allowance will be halved on 1 May. Over the same period, customers who recharge with $50 or more will receive an additional 3GB of bonus data on every recharge.
As part of the deal, Optus is still allowing customers to roll over unused data month to month, up to a maximum of 15GB (up from 10GB previously.) To hang onto your unused data, you need to recharge your plan within 28 days.
