Apple Xcode 7.3 Beta Adds Interactive Playgrounds Support For Swift Developers

Apple has released Xcode 7.3 Beta 3 and has made improvements to its Swift testing environment, Playgrounds. Developers can now click, drag and interact with user interfaces and see how their code will perform directly in the testing environment. Here are the details.

Swift is Apple’s programming language for iOS, OS X and watchOS which was recently made open source.

Playground is an interactive Swift coding environment that essentially lets developers preview what their code would look like in action without the need to create a project. Previously, developers were not able to fiddle around with the end product that shows up in Playgrounds.

Using UIKit Dynamics, developers can now tweak and change their apps direct from the user interface that is shown in Playgrounds with Xcode 7.3 Beta 3. This means you can quickly prototype and build apps using the Swift language.

You can find out more about the new Playgrounds feature, along with a NewtownsCradle.playground file which apply demonstrates the new function, over at the Apple Developers portal.
