An Apple A Day Keeps The Coffee Cravings Away

If you can’t get through your mornings without a few jolts of caffeine in your system, it might be time to lay off coffee for a while. (This goes doubly if you like to pile on the cream and sugar.) For a healthier and non-addictive alternative, try starting your day with an apple or banana instead.

Quaffing cups of coffee isn’t the only way to boost energy. As the girls over at POPSUGAR Health & Fitness explain, an apple or banana served with a condiment of healthy fats is a sure-fire way to perk you up without resorting to caffeine:

With carbohydrates, natural sugar, and soluble fibre, eating an apple first thing in the morning can give you as much energy as a cup of coffee, without the addictive caffeine. And while bananas can be high in sugar, they’re a great natural source of energy. When paired with healthy fats like coconut oil, almond butter, or peanut butter, they make an awesome and quick morning meal choice.
