Watch 30 Popular Life Hacks Get Put To The Test

Video: Not all life hacks are created equal. In fact, some of them are downright terrible. This video puts 30 of them to the test so you know which ones are even worth attempting.

In this video from the Mental Floss YouTube channel, host John Green takes on 30 of the “life hacks” floating around the internet with wit, sarcasm and plenty of humour. Some of them are downright terrible and fail comically, like turning the top of a pizza box into plates, tearing apart an apple barehanded after removing the stem, and karate chopping a watermelon. But some of them actually work quite well, like using a rubber band to open a jar of pickles, freezing your onions before you cut them to avoid crying, using a bundt cake pan for trimming corn on the cob and using a plastic bag to make your smartphone beach-friendly. Some of Green’s attempts don’t go very far, like when he half-tries to peel a mango with a glass (something we’ve tested ourselves), but it’s certainly entertaining to watch anyway.
