Nearly Half Of Organisations Are Looking To Hire Security Professionals

More good news for those working in IT security. According to a recent report by ISACA, there are plenty of job opportunities for skilled IT security professionals all around the world.

ISACA is an international professional association that focuses on IT governance and is responsible for issuing a range of IT-related certifications including the Certified Information Security Manager ().

In a study of nearly 3000 IT and cybersecurity professionals globally, ISACA found that demand for IT security talent is high in 2016 with 45 per cent of respondents saying they are looking to hire this year. But employers are recognising the ever-growing cybersecurity skills gap. Ninety-four per cent of respondents who indicated that their company is hiring in this space said they are expecting difficulty in finding skilled candidates.

The IT security skills shortage is a problem that Australia is facing as well and the private and public sector are working to fix it. According to recruitment agency Hays, demand for IT security professionals will continue well into 2016.

Companies are specifically looking for firewall experts, cybersecurity specialists, security engineers and those with particular certifications such as the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and the CISM, Hays senior regional director Peter Noblet told Lifehacker Australia last year.

According to the ISACA report, the top three cybersecurity concerns for organisations in 2016 are social engineering, insider threats and advanced persistent threats (APTs).
