Learn A Few Of These Body Language Tricks To Help Express Affection 

Communication is pretty tricky in any relationship. If you want to share affection without blurting out “Hey, I like you!” to everyone you meet, a few of these body language tricks will help you be a bit more subtle.

Author Leil Lowndes explains in her book How to Talk to Anyone that non-verbal communication is essential to communicating your intent.

This doesn’t just apply to romantic interest, either. If you want to let a client, business partner, or just a friend know that you think positively or appreciate them, how you express that via your body language can go a long way. Business Insider suggests a few of the best tips from her book. For example, when greeting someone, treat them like an old friend:

When you first meet someone, imagine they’re your old friend. According to Lowndes, this will cause a lot of subconscious reactions in your body, from the softening of your eyebrows to the positioning of your toes.

An added benefit to this technique is that when you act as though you like someone, it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy — you might really start to like them. Lowndes says, “What it boils down to is love begets love, like begets like, respect begets respect.”

Body language is an art of its own, and micromanaging your every body movement might take up too much of your energy when you should be communicating. However, a few tricks can help. Lowndes also recommends using occasional eye contact with someone, even when you’re not speaking directly to them, to indicate interest.
