The original Raspberry Pi-powered PiGrrl put together by Adafruit is a wonderful way to take your retro gaming on the go, but the two-button setup was a bit limiting. Now, Adafruit’s back with a new version.
The PiGrrl 2 packs in more buttons (a d-pad, A, B, X, Y, L, R, pause, and start alongside four additional buttons on the screen), a customised version of the RetroPie operating system and a guide that’s a lot easier to follow.
It’s still not an easy project by any stretch of the word, and you’ll need to have someone 3D print the case for you, but it’s much more appealing all around now. That doesn’t mean it’s not pricey though, not including the case, you’ll still need to shell out about $US130 ($186) for everything. Head over to Adafruit for the full parts list and guide.
