One of the big questions when planning a holiday — rest and relaxation, or adventure and excitement? If you’re looking into the latter for your December / January festivities, Mexico and South and Central America appear to be where all your compatriots are heading.

According to a survey with over 20,000 respondents, conducted by Roy Morgan, 2.7 per cent of people who went overseas on their last holiday embarked on some sort of “adventure activity”, with a healthy 28.5 per cent of those doing so somewhere in Latin America.

Next on the list was Canada at 14 per cent and after that, it’s a competition between the South Pacific, Bali, New Zealand and Thailand.
The United Kingdom came in last, at 2.9 per cent, but I doubt it’s super high on anyone’s list if you want to get the blood pumping. Lovely castles and tea, but not really the place you go to jump off massive cliffs into waterfall-encompassed pools, swim with sharks or fend off mooses. Moosii? Many mooses?
Bah, I give up.
