Transform Old Pallets Into A Cheap, Sturdy Bike Rack

Transform Old Pallets Into A Cheap, Sturdy Bike Rack

Having a dedicated rack to store your bike is great, but they can be pretty expensive. Instead, make one yourself with a few free wooden pallets, the right tools, and an afternoon of work.

Instructables user Davinci2K1 outlines what you need for this project:

  • Two 116x60cm wooden pallets
  • circular saw
  • drill/screw gun and screws
  • 60cm board

Once you have all your materials, cut one of the pallets in half. Place one of the pallet halves at a 90 degree angle with the second pallet, the half pallet forms the bottom of your rack. Overlap the two pallets enough to screw them together from the back. Add the board on top of the full pallet as a shelf to store bike equipment or helmets. You may need to use a rasp to adjust the slots to fit your bikes’ wheels.

If you want to add spots for scooters, use the extra wood from the second pallet half to narrow the slots to fit scooter wheels. For visual step-by-step instructions, check out the full post linked below.
