This week’s KIQ is from PayPal co-founder Peter Thiel and it’s a test of courage and resolve, even if nobody is on your side.

Thiel is an entrepreneur, angel investor and venture capitalist. He’s currently the managing partner of Founders Fund and a part-time partner for Y Combinator. Thiel is always on the hunt to employ people who are not afraid to speak their minds even when the world is against them.
This is why he likes to whips out this interview question when he interviews potential employees and companies seeking investment.
“It sort of tests for originality of thinking and, to some extent, it tests for your courage in speaking in a difficult interview context,” he told Business Insider.
People are often non-confrontational and have a tendency to avoid conflict, particularly in professional situations. But being able to commit to an idea and stand up for it takes guts, and that is something that Thiel values.
