Keep Your Downstairs Tidy With An ‘On Your Way Up’ Basket

If you live in a home with multiple floors, clutter tends to slowly make its way downstairs and stays there. This simple basket method can make it easier to keep that clutter creep under control.

It’s easier for stuff to make its way down than it is for things to go up, and that can lead to a buildup of gadgets, toys, clothes, and other stuff overtaking your downstairs. Becky Rapinchuk at Clean Mama suggests you can avoid that problem with an “on your way up” basket you set next to your stairs. Just use the basket to corral loose items that have a home upstairs and take them all up later when you’re actually headed that way. Essentially, anything you don’t want to take up right now goes in the basket for later. It might seem a little lazy, but why go up and down your stairs all day when you can just do it once? If you have kids, it’s a great chore to add to their daily list too.
