Measure Your Actual Bed Frame Before Shopping For A Doona

It’s easy to forget, but there’s more to dressing up a bed than just the mattress size. Checking other measurements on your bed before you go shopping for a doona can save you some grief.

Beds come in all shapes and sizes. Some are high off the ground and others have frames wider than the mattress sitting on top of it. That’s why Adrienne Breaux at Apartment Therapy recommends measuring all of your bed before you head out:

Though it might be tempting to just press purchase on a “queen” size comforter if you know you have a queen size bed, you want to take a look at the actual dimensions of the blanket, quilt, comforter, duvet and more and then measure your bed’s dimensions. Things like how high your bed sits off the ground and mattress depth can affect how long a covering might hang over the sides of your bed…

A bed with a doona that’s too small or too wide will look a little silly, no matter how perfect your mattress is. Note all of the dimensions of your bed beforehand and you might save yourself a trip returning a doona or blanket that doesn’t look right.
