Let’s say you have a great recipe for a sheet cake, but you only have round cake pans. Or maybe you have a great recipe for pasta salad that only serves 2, rather than the 7 you need it for. You could do a lot of maths yourself, or you could use our nifty calculator to scale your recipe.

This calculator can be used to scale any recipe up or down. Maybe you’re cooking for two and don’t want leftovers, or maybe you have a recipe for four that you want to make for big dinner party. This eliminates the need to re-calculate every individual ingredient, and will do it all in one fell swoop.

This calculator is particularly useful for adapting baking recipes. An inch may not seem like a huge difference in pan size, but a 9-inch square pan is more than 25% larger than an 8-inch square pan! That maths is even more complicated (as laid out by Alice Medrich for Food 52), but our calculator will once again do it all for you.
