Plump Up Saggy Couch Cushions With Just A Few Buttons

Saggy, uneven cushions are a natural part of an old, comfortable couch. That doesn’t mean you can’t spruce them up though. Give your couch a new lease on life and a fresh look by sewing on a few extra buttons, available for a dollar or two at your local craft store.

The best part about this tip is that all you need are the buttons. You’ll need to remove the stuffing from the cushions and replace it later (so make sure you can do this easily before ripping them open), but all you really need is a needle, thread and some matching buttons. Instructables user solobo lays out how to spruce up your cushions:

  1. Remove the cushion stuffing and lay the fabric flat.
  2. Position the buttons evenly on the fabric. Use a pin to hold the buttons on one side while you match the buttons up on the other side of the cushion.
  3. Sew each set of buttons together, through the fabric of the cushion.
  4. Add the stuffing back into the cushion.

That’s all there is to it. A super simple fix, and the photo above shows you the before and after pretty clearly. If you don’t like the way the buttons look, you could also use poly-fil and quilt battingto get a similar effect.
