Everybody loves to get things for free, and what better way for app developers to drive uptake for their products than by giving it away at no cost? Microsoft recently added a new feature to Windows Dev Centre which allows Windows app developers do just that through the generation of promotional codes.
App promotional codes can be used for a variety of situation besides to drive app adoption. It’s also handy to send to app reviewers and testers to get their valuable feedback. This is a crucial part of an ongoing process to improve apps.
Windows Dev Centre can generate promotional codes for a developer’s app sold through Windows Store or a specific in-app purchase. Developers can generate up to 250 codes every six months for apps across Windows Phone 7 and 8, Windows 8 and Windows 10. Considering they’re free to create, developers can take advantage of this feature straight away.
