YouTube Targets Junk Comments

YouTube comments can all too quickly become a festering cesspool of junk. YouTube’s attacking the problem, making junk comments significantly less visible.

YouTube’s latest update for YouTube creators puts the issue front and centre, noting that the new ranking mechanism has made junk YouTube comments drop in visibility.

As a result, as per YouTube, the rate of dislikes on comments has dropped by 36 per cent, which YouTube’s seeing as a victory in this case. They’re never going to entirely kill the junk comment problem, but this is a positive first step.

Amongst other features coming to YouTube “soon” should be opt-in mobile notifications for subscribed channels, improved insights for mobile views and mobile video management.
