Ask A Novel, Interesting Question To Remember Names And Introductions

Behaviour expert Jon Levy has a neat trick to remember people’s names and how they first met. Upon being introduced, he seeks to create a memorable moment, usually by asking a question that will have a unique response.

You aren’t alone if you find it difficult to remember names. Levy says novelty is the main factor that sticks out in our memory, so learning new and interesting information can help a moment stand out.

For example, Levy met a Tinder exec recently and asked her about the first thing most people ask her. She said men who use the dating app often nervously ask if Tinder employees can read guys’ messages to other users. “Now I’ll never forget her!” he says.

We have plenty of other tricks to remember names, but Levy’s strategy seems easy enough to implement.
