Apple Releases New Public Betas Of iOS 9 And Mac OS X El Capitan

If you’re part of Apple’s public beta program, you can grab the latest beta releases of iOS 9 and Mac OS X 10.11 El Capitan right now.

The iOS 9 Beta released has a version number of 13A4305g, which means that it’s the same as the version released recently to developers. It supports the new iPod Touch models, and sees the welcome return of home sharing to iOS 9, as well as a bug fix to reenable the volume button as a camera shutter.

The update to El Capitan appears to be less of a new features showcase than an effort to stamp out bugs and improve performance.

There’s still no solid word on when Apple will release either OS to the general public in finished form, but going on past precedent, iOS 9 will probably drop in September with El Capitan appearing around October.
