Get Rich Slowly’s J.D. Roth explains:

Differentiate yourself. All garage sales are basically the same. Find a way to set yours apart. Last weekend, for instance, I billed ours as a “geek garage sale”, and emphasised that I had graphic novels, board games, and computer gear. My Craigslist ad brought folks from far and wide because of this. They bought the geeky stuff, but they also bought kitchen gadgets and yard art and clothing.

This is an easy enough tactic to employ. Think about what might be different about your garage sale — what are you selling? Are you giving out lemonade? Selling food or other goodies? Whatever sets you apart from other sales, highlight it when you advertise.
