Apple Upgrades Watch OS To 1.01

Along with the predictable performance upgrades, Apple Watch OS 1.01 also brings better Siri integration and improved health tracking ability.

Apple has upgraded the OS that underlies its Apple Watch overnight, bringing it to version 1.01. Which means, predictably, that you shouldn’t go looking for a whole new interface to play with. This is very much a point release.

Apple Watch doesn’t have its own data connection, so you’ll have to upgrade it from the dedicated Apple Watch app. Apple recommends that your Apple Watch has at least a 50 per cent charge when you do so and is connected to its charger while upgrading.

Specifically, Apple calls out improved performance for Siri, measuring stand activity, calculating calories for indoor cycling and rowing workouts, distance and pace during outdoor walk and run workouts, accessibility and “third party apps”, whatever that means. It also adds support for new Emoji characters, and language support for Brazilian Portuguese, Danish, Dutch, Swedish, Russian, Thai and Turkish. Delightful!
