For A Creative Spin On Asparagus, Try Shaving It

For A Creative Spin On Asparagus, Try Shaving It

Asparagus is simple enough to cook, and it’s pretty easy to season it and make it delicious too. However, if you want to try something new with your asparagus, try shaving it.

This suggestion comes from Food52, and you can see just how easy this technique is in the above video. Cut off a bit of the stem, like you would when cooking asparagus traditionally. Then, take a peeler, start from the stem end, and shave.

At the link below, they offer a tasty recipe, but you could probably just season this the same way you would normally — a little salt, pepper, olive oil and maybe top it with some shredded parm. It would also be a tasty, easy addition to a salad.

Keep in mind that this isn’t a hack for cooking asparagus faster — in fact, this method will probably take a bit longer. It’s just an easy way to change things up a bit. For more detail, head to Food52’s link below.
