The Workspace With Its Own Full-Time Barista

Campaign Monitor’s new Australian headquarters officially opened its doors today after a decade on Sydney’s southern outskirts. The workspace boasts enormous mechanised standing desks, a rec room fit for hardcore gamers and a free coffee bar. Situated nearly 40 storeys above the Sydney CBD, it also provides one of the most stunning 360-degree views of the city we’ve ever seen. Here are the photos.

Campaign Monitor is a marketing company that specialises in customisable email software for business campaigns. Originally launched from a residential property, the company has grown into a global powerhouse with more than 120,000 customers around the world. Some of its notable clients include Fitbit, Rip Curl, Coca-Cola and Disney.

Campaign Monitor’s new Sydney HQ spans 2,300 square metres and boasts the latest in cutting-edge office technology. Pictured above is Campaign Monitor CEO Alex Bard in front of the funkadelic lift foyer. The mural was created by local artist Elliott “Numskull” Routledge.

The two floors were specifically designed to foster a highly collaborative environment. Instead of relying on lifts, workers simply traverse a few internal stairs when they need to chat with colleagues on the other level.

When designing its new digs, Campaign Monitor wanted a view that would inspire its workforce. The oversized windows offer a 360 degree view of Sydney’s spectacular surroundings.

Soak in that view.

We hope there aren’t any sufferers of vertigo or acrophobia at Campaign Monitor. Yikes.

Campaign Monitor’s community workspace.

Like any great modern workspace, Campaign Monitor’s new head quarters boasts mechanised standing desks which employees are free to use in whichever manner they wish. During our visit most people were sitting — but it was a Monday afternoon.

The standing desks are ridiculously massive. Each unit (which could comfortably fit three people) belongs to a single worker. Many of the desks are currently vacant which was a deliberate design decision: the company expects to employ more than 80 additional employees in the months to come.

The office’s layout includes plenty of collaboration areas, chill-out corners and enclosed rooms for when privacy is needed. The atmosphere is pretty relaxed, with workers free to use the facilities that suit whatever task is at hand.

Dotted about the offices are 14 Lifesize installments for real-time global communication.

Campaign Monitor CEO Alex Bard said that the ability to correspond with international colleagues at the press of a button has greatly improved workflow.

Campaign Monitor’s kitchen boasts state-of-the-art Convotherm 4 ovens and its own full-time chef. Breakfast and lunch are prepared daily for employees using seasonal, local produce.

There’s also a coffee bar complete with barista staff. (And you probably thought your office kitchen’s Nespresso machine was pretty badass.)

Non-coffee drinkers can tuck into some antioxidant-rich lemongrass iced tea instead.

Naturally, there’s also a very decent rec room complete with two ping pong tables. Apparently, competition is pretty fierce.

For less athletically gifted workers, there’s a video game setup in the rec room. We were particularly impressed by the inclusion of high-end fighting joysticks in place of standard gamepads.
