Sex Toy Review: The Minna Life Limon Is My Favourite Vibrator Ever [NSFW]

We’re kicking off our new Lifehacker After Hours Sex Toy Review series with the Minna Life Limon, my hands-down favourite sex toy. I’m so enamoured with this product that I wind up sounding borderline fanatical whenever I recommend it to one of my clients.

I also love supporting Minna Life because they are intelligent about design, focus on user experience, and are dedicated to using body-safe materials. The Minna Life team is a comprised of a couple of unassuming Stanford Engineering grads who are remarkably in tune with how to get women off.

In this series, I’ll be serving as your trusty field tester, and helping you find the toys that are actually worth your hard-earned money.

The Specs

The Limon is small and fits into the hand quite nicely. It’s made of medical-grade silicone that is so soft you’ll practically want to nuzzle it. Instead of buttons, it has a patented squeezable interface; the harder you squeeze, the more intense the vibration gets. It has a record and playback function that allows you to create your own unique vibrational patterns. It’s also waterproof. It comes with a USB charger, and lasts for 2-3 hours (and let’s face it — if you’re going for 2-3 hours straight, you should take a break). It costs $US119 (or $149 if you buy from Australia) — expensive, but well worth it.

What I Loved

The Limon is super-easy to use. The squeezable control is elegantly simple and a ton of fun to boot. There are no buttons or knobs to fiddle with, which is great because nothing kills the mood faster than trying to remember which way turns the speed up and which way turns it down.

It’s flexible. This isn’t just a women’s vibrator. The rounded tip is great for tracing over nipples and balls, or adding a little extra perineum or anal stimulation during oral. In fact, the Limon is so unobtrusive that you can pin it between your bodies during intercourse and both get in on the fun.

It’s quiet. The Limon is one of the quietest vibrators I’ve ever come across. You can use it with roommates in the next room, and not worry about getting side-eye when you emerge to wash your hands.

It’s smart. One of the downsides of vibrators is that you can always anticipate what’s coming, since you’re the one controlling the stimulation. Pre-recording a routine on the Limon allows you to create an element of surprise. The Limon also indicates the level of battery power right when you turn it on. Ever had a sex toy die on you mid-session? Never again.

What I Didn’t Like

There’s not much to dislike here. If there’s one downside, it’s that it’s not powerful enough for everyone. The Limon is actually just as much if not more powerful than most luxury vibrators currently on the market, but it’s no Hitachi Magic Wand (though few things are). If you’re looking for power-sander levels of vibration, this isn’t the vibrator for you. For everyone else, though, it’s great.

Who Should Buy It

Women who have never had an orgasm will love the Limon — I actually include the Limon as part of my online orgasm course for women. Many women who have never had an orgasm approach masturbation with trepidation since they don’t know exactly what they need to reach orgasm. The Limon makes it easy to intuitively fine-tune the sensation without getting distracted by thoughts about which settings to use. It has proven to be remarkably effective for my previously orgasm-less clients, so I can’t recommend it highly enough.

The Limon is great for your first foray into the wonderful world of sex toys. Sure, there are other products that are more well-known (including the aforementioned Hitachi, and the infamous Rabbit), but in my opinion, the Limon surpasses them in quality and user experience. Seriously, the squeezable control is a gift from the heavens.

The Limon is great for couples too. The Limon does not discriminate. Gay and straight couples alike can find ways to play with it together. Plus, it never feels like there’s a big hunk of plastic getting in the way — which is not something that can be said for most vibrators.

The Final Verdict

Don’t be turned off by the gimmicky-sounding name or shape. The Limon is an incredible toy that gets this sex therapist’s stamp of approval.
