Hump Day Deals: Free PC Software, $5 Chocolate Fountain, 20% Off Big Brand TVs

Hump day (AKA Wednesday) is arguably the most boring day of the week. So why not liven things up by grabbing one of these nifty online bargains? Deals that caught our eye this week include: Cheap return flights to Paris from I Want That Flight, massive online clearance sale at Target, play Star Citizen for free.   • GOG.com has slashed the price of its DROD video game collection by 78 per cent. Originally costing $58.46, the bundle can now be snapped up for $12.86. All six DROD games are included.
  • The makers of the upcoming space trading and combat simulator Star Citizen are offering free access to the game for one week. Click here for the download. [Via OzBargain]
  • Target is having a clearance sale across all entertainment categories, including video games. Deals that caught our eye include Assassin’s Creed 3 on Wii U for $15, NBA Live 14 on PS4 for $22 and Titanfall on Xnox One for $24.
  • Microsoft’s digital store sale for Xbox 360 and Xbox One games has received another update. You can get up to 80 per cent off a bunch of great titles including Alien: Isolation, Destiny, Limbo, Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris, NBA Live 15, Batman: Arkham City, Halo 4 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel.
  • This week’s Humble Bundle focuses on games with funky monochrome graphics. Pay what you want for Dominique Pamplemousse, Closure, and The Bridge. If you pay more than the average price, you’ll also get Oquonie, Betrayer, and NaissanceE. If you pay $10 or more, you’ll receive all of the above plus Neverending Nightmares. As always, you can choose who gets the lion’s share of your money: Humble Bundle, the developers or the nominated charity.
  • You can still get the original Syndicate from Origin for free. If you haven’t played this game before, here’s a perfect opportunity to get your shady cyberpunk on.
  • Target is still selling the new Nintendo 3DS for $197. You can get an additional 20 per cent off when you use the discount code “CTARGET20”.
  • The Internet Archive has released over 2000 classic MS-DOS video games into an easy-to-navigate repository. Every single one of the games is free to play in your browser. Click here to see some of the best titles.
  • You can currently get The Fast & The Furious for free from Google Play. The movie download usually costs $9.95.
  • Lycamobile has knocked $10 off its Super Saver prepaid mobile phone plan. The deal includes unlimited national SMS and calls (mobile & landline) and 5GB of data over 30 days, plus a free SIM card for $19.
  • Keen to try out the Australian version of Netflix? The service will be coming to Xbox 360 and Xbox One during the March 24 launch. Better yet, new Xbox customers will receive a free three-month prepaid subscription.
  • Streaming entertainment service Presto is offering a free 30-day trial of its full TV and movies subscription bundle. Prospective customers can try out the full Presto package for a month, which includes newly added HBO shows such as Rome, Big Love and Hung. Click here for more information.

  • WindowsDeal has slashed a handful of PC software titles by up to 100 per cent. This week’s free deals include Tenorshare iPad Data Recovery, Franzis PhotoBuZZer and Ashampoo Snap 7.

  • Target is selling Philips Notebook Headsets for $10. It’s designed to be comfortable during prolonged use and comes with acoustically tuned 32mm neodymium drivers.
  • Need a cheap desktop monitor? Office Works is selling HP’s 19-inch 20wd LED Monitor for $87. It comes with a native resolution of 1600×900 pixels, a 5ms response time, high contrast ratio of 600:1 and VGA/DVI connections.

  • Target is flogging popcorn makers for the ridiculously low price of $5. (We’re of the opinion that these are a waste of space and money but would be willing to make an exception for that price.) You can also get a milkshake maker and chocolate fountain for the same price.
  • If you need a cheap tablet for the grand parents or kiddies, this Office Works deal could be worth a look: Pendo Google Play 7″ HD Tablet is on sale for $69. It comes with 512MB of RAM, 8GB on inbuilt storage, a Micro SD slot and a 1 GHz Dual-core processor.
  • Dick Smith has slashed 20 per cent off big brand TVs including Samsung, Panasonic, LG and Sony. The deal ends 23 March.
  • Food/Drink

  • You can currently get a two course dinner/lunch at Hog’s Breath Cafe for two with wine for just $39. Head to Scoopon for the deal.
  • The cheapest water comes out of a tap. Close behind is this deal from Office Works: 24 600ml bottles of Peats Ridge spring water for $7.
