It has been a fair wait for Foxtel’s next generation subscription TV box, and there’s plenty of incoming competition, but if you’re keen, Foxtel will sell you an IQ3 box as of next week.
Mind you, that’s about all we know with regards to the IQ3 in terms of sale, with a release from Foxtel noting that it “will be available for order for new and current subscribers” but that “More information including pricing, additional features and order details will be announced Monday.”
The IQ3 adds inbuilt Wi-Fi, a Bluetooth-based remote control, social trending data to see what everyone else is watching and the ability to scrub back 24 hours through channels to catch missed programs.

If you ring foxtel you can order this box today.
It’s $150 for existing customers for self install, or $200 to have a human come out if you find the task of disconnecting and reconnecting 4-5 cables too daunting.
The My Account section of foxtel.com.au is down right now while they add the new box and the function to buy it.
Hmm I just tried calling foxtel and no dice… they were adamant that it can’t be ordered till Monday 🙁
Do we know how many physical antenna cables are required in this? I have two on my IQ2. Will that suffice?
You can already go back and watch shows from the past 24 hours with the IQ2 box – http://www.foxtel.com.au/got/support/tv/how-to-use/tv-guide-recording/look-back.html
Though this isn’t available on all channels or all programs (due to syndication or licensing restrictions)
For the love of God, please let the streaming be decent bit rate HD. IQ2 streaming is SD only, such a waste. 🙁
