Question: What condiment adds an edge to any sandwich, takes only 10 minutes to make, and calls for ingredients you already have in your pantry? The answer is one you’ve probably never heard of: mustardshire sauce!
This sandwich spread, created by CHOW’s Chris Rochelle, calls for mixing equal parts mustard powder and Worcestershire sauce. He recommends letting the combination meld together for about 10 minutes before putting it to use to add punch to a corned beef sandwich.
Excited by the possibilities, we gave mustardshire a test drive during today’s lunch: a burger. It had an umami-rich saltiness and nose-clearing quality, and would work well in any application where horseradish complements a dish: pastrami, a tri-tip sandwich, even grilled portobello mushrooms or pulled pork. If you have few extra seconds to spare, sift the mustard powder to prevent it from clumping with the Worcestershire — you’ll still have a winning condiment in about 11 minutes.

You can even break up the syllables to make it sound like Worcestershire!
