To both motivate yourself and avoid impulse spending, LearnVest suggests identifying a handful of affordable indulgences in advance. Then, when you reach a milestone, you can celebrate.

To start, list three to five indulgences that are $20 or less. Keep the list handy for motivation, and when you reach your goal, pick a splurge from the list and celebrate.
