CARROT Hunger Trash Talks You While Counting Calories

iOS: The CARROT series of app, which includes a fitness tracker, to-do list and alarm clock, is known for its brutally honest approach to productivity apps. While most apps want to compliment you on your accomplishments, the CARROT apps want to yell at you. CARROT Hunger brings that approach to counting calories.

Like the other CARROT apps, CARROT Hunger features a judgemental AI that shames you in all kinds of ways. First, you set up the app with your info, including height, weight and activity level. CARROT Hunger then gives you a calorie goal. You can then track your calories by searching for foods in a database or scanning the barcode on a package.

From there, things get weird. If you’re nearing your calorie intake goal for the day, CARROT will start pestering you. You can set an iBeacon in your fridge to warn you if you’re too close to passing your calorie goal, make a one-time payment to pass your goal, or worse, “accept consequences”, which increases the likelihood of a full-screen ad. As with the other CARROT apps, CARROT Hunger toes the line between funny and abusive, but if you want to track calories in a more entertaining way, CARROT Hunger’s the way to go.
