This Arduino Alert System Sends You A Text When The Laundry Is Done

We’ve all missed the buzzer and forgotten a load of laundry once or twice. While setting an alarm is easy enough, this Arduino-powered alert system sendS you a text when it’s time to grab your clothes.

Instructables user MakerBee’s alert system uses an Arduino microcontroller and a dual-axis accelerometer. When your washing machine and dryer stop vibrating, the machine will know and alert you accordingly. With a few supplies, and a Temboo and Twilio account, you can make your own. Just set up your accounts with Temboo and Twilio to get your Arduino connected and able to send SMS messages, and download the WasherDryerAlarm.ino to program your microcontroller. Wire up the system with jumper wires, mount it, plug it in and test it out.

There are a lot of things you can do with Arduino, and this one is pretty cool for those who like to keep it practical. See the full guide below.
