AutoMath Solves Equations With Your Android Phone’s Camera

Android: If you’re having trouble figuring out that complicated maths problem, AutoMath will solve it for you and even give you step-by-step instructions. All you need to do is point your camera at the equation.

We recently featured PhotoMath, an app that performs this function on iOS, but now there’s an option for Android as well. All you need to do is take a picture of the equation in question, and AutoMath will give you the answer, along with a step-by-step tutorial on how to solve the equation for yourself. It doesn’t even need a connection to the internet.

According to AutoMath’s Google Play page, it can solve addition, subtraction, multiplication, fractions, division, inequalities, powers, square roots, trigonometry, algebra, simplification and basic algorithms. It also has a calculator feature that supports polynomials, calculus, equation systems and more — but these don’t work with the camera feature. The developers plan to add more in the future, including graphing, calculus and equation systems.

AutoMath has one big downside: it currently can’t scan handwritten questions — only typed ones. Still, for a free app, it’s amazing what it can do. Check out the video above to see it in action, or hit the link below to try it out for yourself.
