We’re fans of littleBits, the DIY kits that make electronics as easy to make as LEGOs. Now there’s also a new Smart Home Kit that extends that ease into home automation.
The Smart Home Kit includes modules to monitor temperature, lights and sounds. With it, you’ll be able to make your blinds open on a timer, control your AC, control lights and more. It’s a little on the pricey end at $US249, but if you’re into the idea of home automation, but you’re a little scared of Arduino or Raspberry Pi, this is a great way to get started.

This looks more promising https://ninjablocks.com and is an Australian Development/Design team 🙂
More importantly, it will actually be rated for 240v, unlike the American 110v used by Littlebits (and a US plug). Both the ideas are quite different and awesome in their own ways too
