Google Play Music Gets Curated Playlists, Updated Interface

Android/iOS/Web: Today, Google announced a new version of its Play Music service. In addition to the standard Material Design update, Google has added curated playlists, which is a trick it learnt from Songza.

Earlier this year, Google acquired Songza, a service that curated playlists based on your mood, time of day or what you were doing. Now, that feature has been added to Play Music. You can select playlists for things like “Working Out” or “Waking Up Gently”.

The update also brings the mobile app and web interface in line with Google’s new Material Design scheme. The rollout is happening now and should be available on the web. If your Android device hasn’t updated with the new look, you can check out Android Police’s post below for an APK download.
