Ask LH: How Can I Delete A Single Message In iOS 8?

Hey Lifehacker, I updated to iOS 8 — now how do I delete only one message from a conversation? On iOS 7 I just hit trash, and I didn’t erase the whole conversation by doing that. Any tips? Cheers, Excess Messages

Dear EM,

You should be able to delete just one message in a conversation by touching and holding on it until the “more” dialog comes up and then tapping the trash icon to remove just that message, although there are many reports online of the trash icon failing to appear. In some cases tapping to ensure that the keyboard is visible seems to help; in other cases it may be time to reboot the phone and see if it wants to play nice then.
