If you don’t want to spend a lot of money on a laptop, a Chromebook can be a solid alternative. To find the right one for you, software developer Danny Tuppeny created a webapp that filters your options.
With Chromebook Comparison, you can sort models by brand, processors, specs and features like RAM or touchscreens, screen size, country availability, battery and weight and. The only missing factor is price, but Tuppeny tells Hacker News that this is because prices change often, and that there isn’t a huge disparity in them except for the Chromebook Pixel. The country filter doesn’t include Australia, but it’s still a potentially useful tool for narrowing your selection before checking local availability.
